Portfolio

I am currently working in the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence as a senior researcher. My specialties include machine learning, signal processing, data acquisition system, physiological and psychological activity recognition, sensor systems, biomedical engineering. I have expertise with both power efficient wearable and mobile systems, as well as high bandwidth, heterogeneous pervasive systems.

My experience grants me competence in both the hardware and software spectrum. For the data mining I work both with Matlab and Python. I am also skilled in designing hardware systems on the PCB level and developing firmware with microcontrollers (C) and FPGAs (VHDL/Verilog/SystemC). On the algorithmic aspect, I am both familiar with hardware related topics including task scheduling, parallelism, signal processing, transfer function; as well as software related topics such as spatial-temporal feature analysis, pattern recognition, optimization, deep learning, etc.

My doctoral thesis focuses on building a full stack framework for scalable textile pressure mapping matrix from sensing hardware to the machine learning and visualization layer.

I have been teaching a lecture Embedded Intelligence in the University of Kaiserslautern. The lecture content is online and can be found in this site as well.

Interactions with designers from the Berlin fashion scene has also inspired me to combine fashion and technology in my projects.

Education

I have received my doctor of engineering degree from the University of Kaiserslautern and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence.

I am a graduate of the European Master in Embedded Computing Systems (Erasmus Mundus program EMECS), from which I've studied in the University of Southampton with the system-on-chip (SoC) program, and the University of Kaiserslautern with the Embedded System program.

I've received my Bachelor of Science degree from the Harbin Engineering University, where I've studied automation, measurement and control instrumentation in the scope of inertial navigation.

Spotlight

General Chair, ACM Augmented Humans International Conference (AHs'20)

Originally planned in Kaiserslautern, Germany, 16-17 March, 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the conference committee managed to change our conference as one of the first conferences successfully hosted virtually during the 2020 world wide lockdown.
